Heritage Park Sports Complex FAQ
Is there an entrance fee?
No, however some tournaments over the weekend require an entrance fee to watch and spectate the games.
Can I bring my dog or pet to the Heritage Park Sports Complex?
All animals must be kept on a leash no more than 6 feet long, and picked up after. The animal’s leash cannot be tied to a tree, fence, or any other fixed object. Animals are NOT permitted on the turf fields.
Are there restrooms at the Heritage Park Sports Complex?
Yes, restrooms are located between Field #1 and Field #4. Family restrooms are located only at the Community Recreation Center, 100 Community Boulevard, Wheeling during front desk service hours.
What happens in case of inclement weather or lightning? Does the Sports Complex ever close?
The Wheeling Park District is equipped with a sferic siren alerting system. Here are what the sounds and strobe lights mean.
- ONE LONG 15-SECOND HORN BAST– Lightning has been detected – Guests must seek shelter.
- STROBE FLASHING –Lightning in Area Alert – Guests must seek shelter
- THREE SHORT 5-SECOND HORN BLASTS– All Clear – It is safe to resume outdoor activities.
If lightning is detected near the Heritage Park Sports Complex, all players must exit the field immediately and all guests are encouraged to seek shelter. Play will not resume until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike detected.

Can I bring outside food or beverages?
There is a concession stand but outside food is allowed to be brought on premise. Please dispose the food into a trash can. Food is NOT allowed on the turf fields. No alcohol is allowed to be brought onto the property including the parking lot. Anyone found with outside alcohol will be asked to dispose of it.
Can I bring a cooler into the Sports Complex?
Coolers are allowed into the Sports Complex but no alcohol is allowed. No coolers are allowed on the turf fields.
Can I smoke at the Heritage Park Sports Complex?
Smoking is not permitted at the Heritage Park Sports Complex or anywhere in any of the facilities, including vapor.
What is the expected guest conduct?
The Wheeling Park District intends to provide all guests with a safe, comfortable, and friendly environment. Our family atmosphere prohibits foul or abusive language, and any violation of these policies may result in ejection. Guests with obscene or indecent clothing or who are seemingly intoxicated will not be granted access into any Park District owned facility.
